Individuals with autism are often unable to communicate through speech, and the ones that are able to speak sometimes cannot begin or to maintain a conversation. This article presents a case study that observed the communicative profile of a young student with autism interacting with his teacher during classroom activities using adapted PECS. The results demonstrated that the autistic student enhanced communicative initiatives in the interaction with his teacher, and the augmentative and alternative communication system was a facilitating tool used in the communicative learning process.

Bluetooth technology found in smartphones and tablets can add an interesting feature focused on home automation. Through the implementation of a wireless network communication between a mobile device and receiver modules located in different points, or even on a single centralized point in residence, you can manage many household items with just a few taps on smartphones. With such applicability, allow the user greater integration with your home, comfort, safety and economy. Distributed Virtual Environments (DVE) allow multiple users interact with a virtual world by sharing, manipulating objects. Each user has his/her own vision of this world and every changes of state of the environment are distributed among other users. Due to technological constraints, most systems for distributed virtual environments support a limited number of users. The major limitation for development of DVE scale are imposed by the communication system. As the number of users grows, the amount of bandwidth required to exchange information in real time among stations to upgrade the environment and keep it in a consistent state for all connected users. Based on this situation is proposed a framework that uses the protocol anycast in the application layer that provides a load balancing among servers in the region and aims at reducing the latency of message delivery between participants selecting the DVE server best suited for the region participant to connect to the environment

Em 2003, quando da publicação do decreto nº 4.901, que institui o Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão Digital SBTVD , o panorama vislumbrado era imenso e inspirador: o que despontava era a possibilidade de se ter acesso à internet e todas as vantagens decorrentes dela em cada aparelho de TV do país. Com as discussões sobre qual sistema adotar e posteriormente com as indefinições sobre o middleware, houve tempo suficiente para a internet se afirmar como mídia essencialmente interativa, deixando, por hora, para a TV Digital a qualidade de imagem . O que vemos agora é a qualidade da imagem que alcança em banda larga a tela do computador, seduzindo ainda mais os usuários de TV. Com o Plano Nacional de Banda Larga que visa à popularização da internet de alta velocidade no Brasil, prometido pelo Governo Lula, a TV Digital pode de um lado garantir o canal de retorno necessário para a interatividade plena e, de outro lado, perder uma importante batalha para a internet, que se firmará de vez como mídia interativa.

The objective of this research was to describe the use of an augmentative and alternative system for a student with cerebral palsy during intervention. A 10-year-old male student with cerebral palsy participated in this investigation. He attended special classes for people with disability in a public school in a city of the interior of Sao Paulo. The scheduled activities were carried out twice a week for two years at the Laboratory of Special Education of a public University of São Paulo. All of the tapes describing the activities that were filmed during the assessment and implementation of augmentative and alternative communication resource were watched and described using a specific protocol. Based on the information from the protocols, the sessions with intervals greater than 20 days and the ones with activities involving the communication board with the time equal or greater than 20 minutes during the first year of intervention were selected. The chosen sessions were transcribed in full and, after analyzing the text, the following categories were established, according to the stated goal: the graphic system helped the student with utterances of vertical structure (56%) associated with the oral (14%) and non-oral and non-verbal form (30%), while the use of the graphic system along with other forms collaborated to enhance statements, enabling better understanding of the child s intention. The use of augmentative and alternative communication systems provided the expansion of effective dialogical situations for the student during the activities carried out in speech therapy.

This paper presents a technique dubbed WiMAX radio link, the IEEE 802.16 was completed in October 2001 and published on April 8, 2002 and is constantly updated, this technology specifies an interface for wireless metropolitan networks (WMAN) and is under control of the WiMAX Forum, which is a group of companies responsible for the dissipation of this technology in the world, the great benefit of this standard is to offer broadband Internet connection in areas where there is no infrastructure such as fiber optics that has a cost higher. The main purpose of this paper is to present the theoretical and technical characteristics of this technology for both the standard for fixed and mobile standard, regulation of frequency bands by the FCC and description of the physical layer, through to basic concepts are used in many other types of radio link and technologies have been adapted and updated for this little-known standard, allowing a greater range and speed, which are specified and differentiate these advancements is one of the contributions of the work done here. After the theoretical conceptualization stage, a real case study has been inserted in this work to demonstrate the effectiveness of this technology deployed. Este artigo tem por objetivo fazer uma reflexão da usabilidade aplicada à interatividade do SBTVD (Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão Digital). Aborda as perspectivas de mercado no Brasil e na América Latina e cita alguns casos em que a usabilidade constituiu-se em fator decisivo para ampliar o ciclo de vida do produto. Explicita a interação e a engenharia de usabilidade com destaque para a garantia da consolidação da interatividade do SBTVD. Neste contexto, inclui o estabelecimento de redes de banda larga para todos, chamados de “cidade digital” condição decisiva no processo de possibilitar a democratização. Conclui que essa facilidade de usabilidade, aliada aos avanços tecnológicos digitais que propiciam uma qualidade e uma convergência tecnológica, que certamente romperá o modelo de telespectador passivo para um telespectador interativo gerando um novo contingente de telespectadores vindo da televisão digital e da televisão analógica.
